WHAT DOES TOKAIDO MEAN?
The name "Tokaido" is made up of three kanji (Chinese characters) meaning "East", "Sea" and a suffix meaning "Store". Together, the name means "Store by the East Sea". Since the founder of Tokaido originally came from an area of ​​Japan near what is known as the "East Sea", he named the store Tokaido in honor of his homeland.

Tokaido was the first manufacturer of karate uniforms, after karate came from the Ryūkyū Islands to central Japan and later the world. Before that, athletes mostly practiced karate in their regular clothes or even judo uniforms.
